Clean Air Woodworks

Clean Air Woodworks is a small design-build-manufacturing firm that focuses on modern designs, zero-VOC finishes, reclaimed and sustainable wood, and wooden creations of all types. Custom wooden furniture, small to medium sized production runs of wooden parts, and wooden housewares and commonly asked for items. Wooden Yurt Tents are produced in our factory under the name of Clean Air Yurts.

We operate a 5’x10′ CNC router with automatic tool changer for fast processing times. Full vacuum bed with strong 25hp vacuum pump. Able to process wood, plywood, plastics, aluminum, and more. 3D carvings or 2D cabinet cut outs.

We create unique handmade pieces and products using predominately locally cut and milled hardwoods from the Hudson Valley of NY. Wide live edged slabs for dining tables and benches are a specialty, as well as the use of lesser known local woods such as locust, hackberry, and catalpa. We can incorporate exotic woods into our designs and occasionally import exotic woods for specific customer projects.

Our capabilities are varied and perfect for beginning product designers. We can work with wood, metal, fabric, leather, fiberglass, stone, and plastic. We welcome prototype work and small orders as well as large production runs. Our turnaround times are fast for small orders as we can often fit in those orders around current work and our customer service is second to none.

Our current product lines include wide slab dining tables, live edged benches, wood block stools, steam-bent wood products, locust and ipe Adirondack chairs, cutting boards, housewares, and small goods.

Our in-stock products are constantly changing, but usually include several dining tables, benches, and other smaller wood creations available for immediate sale. Our stock of wood slabs is constantly changing, but we keep enough on hand for several projects at any one time, facilitating prototype work.

Capabilities:

• Ideation: product design can be a collaborative process where the end-user and maker utilize their different sets of skills and experiences to create a final product that is better than the sum of the initial ideas. We can help in the conceptualization phase through product research, sketches, and small-scale mockups.
• Materials: we have access to a wide range of small local Hudson Valley sawmills with the capability to saw up to 60″ wide wood slabs and produce local lumber in a variety of hard to find species such as black walnut, black and honey locust, catalpa, ash, white and red oak, hard and soft maple, willow, cherry, poplar, hickory, red and yellow birch, butternut, basswood, elm, sycamore, and more.
• Production: we are a small custom design shop, but can easily devote time to mass-producing products. Depending on the size and complexity of the products we can produce large runs of similar products with the ability to make each product identical, or with a unique, handmade look.
